Will's first cold, and our fun sleepover weekend

Will's first cold. It's been coming on for about a week, but hit hard yesterday. He's weathering it pretty well so far. I took him to the doctor today and he's doing just fine. He's even gained 6 oz. since his four-month visit two weeks ago, weighing in now at 14 lbs. 7 oz. We've got the humidifier going, the saline drops at the ready, and lots of napping built in to our days until it passes.

We had a really good time this past weekend having a sleepover party with our friends Yasmine, Ramona & Adam while Billy painted the kitchen. (Pictures of that fiasco, and the fantastic but not-yet-final results to come). I finally got a picture of both Yasmine and Will in their matching Froggie jammies, which I've been waiting on for a while. (That picture and the last two weeks of pictures should be up soon - it' s been chaos without the kitchen). Yasmine gave Baby Will lots of kisses, gentle pats, and shared lots of toys and books with him. She's a really exceptional and special 1.5 year old. Will loves to watch her, especially when she bursts out with a big jump or excited shout!

Dad and I have each figured out little secrets for Will. Dad's find: singing the song "The Noble Duke of York." My secret: the word "boom." For some reason, that song will silence any cries (during bottles or car rides) and that word will reliably elicit giggles from Will. Whatever works....

Meeting Dr. Ferber

Will was all smiles for Dad until bedtime, but Will was all awake at 10:30, 2, 3, and 4 until 7.
I think it's a sign. I went to hear the famous Dr. Ferber give a lecture about the sleepless child, and Will decided to give me a real-live example to illustrate his points. I thought Dr. Ferber would be rigid and cold, but he was very calming, warm, and explained his approach in a way that rang of much common sense. Now to stay awake long enough to read his book and put it to use...

Demands must be met!

Troubled times here in the Wright household. Will's sleeping patterns have become very erratic. Mom ventured out to see the great Dr. Ferber and get a talisman of sleep. I had a bad day at work, and not wanting any trouble I looked to the great purple lord of children.

I begged him for a smooth evening.......

Don't let the smile fool you he is pure evil!

He demanded quarterly allowance increases for Will, immediate diaper changes, and the Ultimate Collector's Lego Millennium Falcon. I had no choice. I told him I would obey.

Sensing my weakened state, Pookie approached, and stared into my eyes. She demanded a pallet of dry food. Yes Pookie - you will have your dry food.

Will saw this and thought "Whooooaaa this dood has lost his marbles."

But the evil purple witchcraft worked. Will was all smiles until bedtime. Now I just need to get that Millennium Falcon......

HELP

I was the person who came up with the name for this blog, mostly in jest because Will was a pretty good sleeper. One night in September he slept for 8 hours straight! But there is such a thing as self-fulfilling prophecies.

I cannot wrap my brain around how tired I am. Will fell asleep at 7:30 pm without finishing his bottle. Then he was up at 10:30. And 12:30. And 2:30. And 4:30. And then 6:30.

I have been dreading the sleep training phase, and I still am, but fatigue and desperation are about to outpace my dread.

Hope renewed

What a great day this is for our country. Its been eight long years of corruption, failed policies, and fear mongering under the Bush administration. Eight years of dealing with a president that never had a right to be in the White House.

Finally for the first time in my life I voted for a candidate I really believe in. Finally we have a president that will look out for the people before the oil companies. This is a great day in American history.

I am so proud to have a leader that will represent America and its people like we should be represented.

-Billy

P.S. Special thanks to Florida for not screwing us again. OH and PA RULE!!!!!

Will's First VOTE!

Will was so worked up about the election that he declined to take a morning nap. He insisted we go vote sooner than later, so off we went to the Roslindale Library, where Dad voted a few hours earlier. No lines but it was busy for 10 am, and the poll worker said the morning started with a long line. It was an amazing feeling to share this vote with him. The experience was so overwhelming that Will passed out two seconds after I took this picture of us outside the polls.

Fingers crossed...

Things change so fast

A week ago, Will could barely stand up in his exersaucer. Now he can stand and press the buttons - and he LOVES IT! (Password is Will)
